Indonesia’s corn production rises, but output is expected to decline toward year-end
Indonesia’s corn production increased by 3.84% y/y in January–August 2026 to 11.86 mln tons on a 14% moisture basis, according to the country’s national statistics agency.
In August alone, output reached 1.74 mln tons, up 24.81% from a year earlier. The increase was supported by a 2.21% expansion in harvested area to 2.02 mln ha in January–August.
However, production is expected to slow in the coming months. The statistics agency estimates the September–November corn crop at around 3.49 mln tons, down 5.49% from the same period of 2025.
For January–November, Indonesia’s corn production is forecast at 15.35 mln tons. This would still be 1.56% above the level recorded in the corresponding period last year.
Higher production overall supports feed-sector supplies and could reduce import requirements. However, the expected decline in output later in the year may tighten the domestic market and affect corn availability for feed producers.
