India increased rapeseed meal exports to China by 39 times
According to preliminary estimates from the Vegetable Oil Exporters Association of India (SEA), India increased its rapeseed meal exports to China in January-October of this year to 581,800 tonnes, compared to only 14,900 tonnes shipped in the same period a year ago. Export volumes increased more than 39-fold.
At the same time, Indian rapeseed meal shipments to South Korea decreased from 307,400 tonnes to 131,300 tonnes (resulting in a shift in purchases from Canada and Japan), and to Bangladesh from 382,500 tonnes to 179,300 tonnes (offset by increased domestic rapeseed processing).
Overall, India exported 1.25 million tonnes of rapeseed meal in the first ten months of this year, compared to 1.18 million tonnes shipped in January-October 2024, according to the association.
It was previously reported that rapeseed acreage in India would increase by 7-8%, reaching a record high, thanks to favorable weather conditions and demand from China.
