India expects record rice yield in 2025
India is expected to harvest a record rice crop this year. Forecasts point to a high yield, which could further strengthen the country’s position as one of the world’s leading producers of “white gold.”
India is currently projected to produce over 145 million tonnes of rice this year.
According to agricultural experts, favorable conditions and improved farming practices have contributed to increased productivity in India’s key rice-growing regions. Continued government investment in irrigation networks and the introduction of new high-yielding varieties and technologies have been key factors in achieving higher yields.
A bumper harvest could strengthen India’s role in export markets, particularly in Asia and Africa, where many countries rely on Indian rice imports to maintain staple food consumption. As rice is a cornerstone of both domestic consumption and international trade, the 2025 harvest is seen as a key milestone that will shape India’s economic situation and food security in the coming years.
