In June, Australia increased the supply of wheat to major importers
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Australia exported 2,589.7 thousand tons of wheat in July, which is 4% less than in June (2,710.5 thousand tons). This is reported by the Grain On-Line agency.
The largest buyers of Australian wheat shipped in bulk were China (687.5 thousand tons), Indonesia (373.4 thousand tons) and the Philippines (303.8 thousand tons). Wheat in containers was mainly imported from Taiwan (41.8 thousand tons), Vietnam (40 thousand tons) and Thailand (27.6 thousand tons).
Compared to June, shipments to China increased by 4%, to Indonesia by 48% and to the Philippines by 37%. These countries have been stockpiling Australian wheat in anticipation of the start of the new Northern Hemisphere crop and fears that the Black Sea export corridor will take wheat to Asian markets more slowly than usual.
