In April, China resumed active purchases of wheat from Kazakhstan

538 KMT of Kazakhstan wheat was exported in April (+16% from March, +77% from April 2019/20). This season’s exports totaled 3.98 MMT (+23% y-o-y), UkrAgroConsult reports.
Iran continues to actively buy Kazakhstani wheat: almost 136 KMT was shipped to the country during the five months, or 59 times more than in the same period last year.
In addition, April witnessed a surge in purchases by China, which bought 48 KMT vs. 3 KMT the month before.
The biggest buyers also increased imports compared to the same time last season: Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan. The exception is the EU, which slashed wheat imports from Kazakhstan by 50% y-o-y.
