IGS forecasts a 14% decline in the world pea harvest
Global pea production this season will decline to 15.7 million tonnes, down 13.5% from last season’s peak, according to the International Grains Council (IGC). Russia and Canada will harvest less peas than last season.
Given the supply shortfall, global consumption and stocks will decline slightly. Global pea consumption will total 16.1 million tonnes (-1.1% compared to last season), with carryover stocks at 5.2 million tonnes (-7.1%).
Global pea trade will decline to 5.7 million tonnes (-3.4%) due to weakening demand in South Asia.
