Grain exports from Ukraine slowed sharply at the beginning of August

Ukraine exported 2.952 mln tons of grains and pulses from the start of the MY 2026/27 through August 12. This is 134 thsd tons, or about 4.8%, more than in the same period last season, according to data from Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

At the same time, the pace of shipments slowed significantly in early August. As of July 31, total grain and pulse exports stood at 2.601 mln tons. Thus, Ukraine shipped only 351 thsd tons of grain to foreign markets during the first 12 days of August.

Wheat exports since the start of the season reached 1.239 mln tons, down 278 thsd tons, or about 18%, year on year. Barley shipments totaled 333 thsd tons, 130 thsd tons less than a year earlier. Ukraine has not exported any rye since the beginning of the new marketing year.

Meanwhile, corn exports remain significantly above last year’s level. As of August 12, Ukraine had shipped 1.376 mln tons of corn abroad, up 549 thsd tons, or about 66%, from the corresponding period of the previous season.

Flour exports since the start of the MY 2026/27 remain low at 1.8 thsd tons, equivalent to 2.4 thsd tons in grain terms. This is 3.3 thsd tons less than in the same period last year.
