Grain exports from Ukraine have exceeded 3 mln tons since the start of the season

As of August 14, Ukraine had exported 3.093 mln tons of grains and pulses since the start of the MY 2026/27. This is 275 thsd tons, or almost 10%, more than the 2.818 mln tons shipped by the same date last season, according to State Customs Service data published by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

Wheat exports since the beginning of the season reached 1.291 mln tons. Compared with the same period last year, shipments decreased by 226 thsd tons, or almost 15%, from 1.517 mln tons. Barley exports are also lagging behind last year at 339 thsd tons compared with 463 thsd tons a year earlier.

Corn is driving the overall increase in grain exports. As of August 14, Ukraine had shipped 1.403 mln tons of corn to foreign markets, compared with 827 thsd tons at the same point last season. Corn exports have therefore increased by almost 70% and currently exceed wheat shipments.

However, grain exports slowed sharply in August. During the first two weeks of the month, Ukraine exported only 348 thsd tons of grains and pulses, compared with 1.153 mln tons during the same period of August 2025. Wheat shipments totaled 219 thsd tons, barley 40 thsd tons and corn 89 thsd tons.

Flour exports have also declined since the start of the MY 2026/27, falling to 3.2 thsd tons from 6.1 thsd tons a year earlier. Including flour converted into grain equivalent, Ukraine’s total exports reached 3.097 mln tons. Despite remaining above last year’s level since the start of the season, the sharp decline in August shipments indicates the growing impact of maritime logistics disruptions on Ukraine’s grain exports.
