Germany builds world’s tallest wind turbine at 365 metres
Germany has completed construction of the world’s tallest wind turbine in the eastern state of Brandenburg. The installation in Schipkau stands 300 metres to the rotor hub and reaches 365 metres with the blades.
The pilot turbine will have a nominal capacity of 3.8 MW. Its official commissioning is scheduled for November 2026.
The project is designed to take advantage of stronger and more stable winds at higher altitudes. According to GICON, with the same rotor diameter, the technology could generate roughly twice as much electricity as conventional onshore wind turbines.
To reach the record height, the inner section of the tower was raised using a special telescopic mechanism and fixed in its final position.
The project is being implemented by GICON on behalf of Germany’s breakthrough innovation agency SPRIND. Following testing, the developers plan to prepare the technology for serial production.
