German Getreide AG increases Ukrainian rapeseed exports

German company Getreide AG exported 350 thsd tons of Ukrainian rapeseed in the 2025/26 marketing year, exceeding the previous season despite the introduction of export duties. The company’s CEO, Björn Stendel, shared the information in an interview with Latifundist.com.

According to Stendel, the company’s last vessel carrying Ukrainian rapeseed departed two weeks ago. He also said Getreide had not considered establishing cooperatives to benefit from duty-free exports.

“I don’t see any additional profit in becoming an exporter myself. I have reliable business partners who already do this, and I don’t want to compete with them,” Stendel explained.

He said the increase in export volumes was driven by gradual improvements in logistics and years of experience working with Ukrainian rapeseed. Early operations faced serious challenges with truck transportation through Poland and border crossings, but logistics have since improved significantly.

Today, most exports are shipped by sea. All 350 thsd tons of Ukrainian rapeseed exported by Getreide AG last season were transported by vessels. For the 2026/27 marketing year, the company has already contracted more than 200 thsd tons for delivery by December and expects total purchases to reach 400–500 thsd tons.
