Freight market stabilized after turbulence
After two rather turbulent weeks, the activity of fixations during the last reporting week has revived somewhat, as charterers with previously sold cargoes were forced to fulfill their contractual obligations and could no longer postpone shipments. However, this mainly concerns the Handysize segment, while in the Coaster segment the significant gap between the freight ideas of shipowners and charterers continues to significantly restrain market activity, ASAP Agri said.
At the same time, those deals that were nevertheless concluded were mostly fixed at levels corresponding to the previous week.
The freight department of Atria Brokers estimates the freight for the shipment of 30,000 tons of corn from Ukrainian deep-water ports to the east coast of Italy at 28-29 USD/t (unchanged for the week).
In the firewood segment, the freight for shipping 6,000 tons of corn from Ukrainian Danube ports to the east coast of Italy is about 45 USD/ton, which is also at the same level as last week.
