France harvests the largest sunseed crop since the 1990s
According to the French Ministry of Agriculture, this season’s sunflower seed harvest increased to 2.1 mln tons and became the largest since the 1990s.
Compared to 2022, sunseed production increased by 19%, compared to the average for the last five years – by 37%. The bumper harvest was achieved due to the expansion of the planted area to 0.83 million hectares and high yields, averaging 25.8 c/ha.
Soybean production also increased to 0.44 million tons, up 16% year-on-year and 7% compared to the five-year average.
