For the third year in a row, the share of milling wheat in Ukraine does not exceed 50%
For the third year in a row, the share of milling wheat in the market structure in Ukraine is less than 50%.
This was stated by Maksym Kharchenko, grain market analyst at UkrAgroConsult, during the All-Ukrainian practical forum “AGRONOMY DAY: Harvest Economy”.
He recalled that at the beginning of the season, operators predicted that the market share of milling wheat would be about 30%.
“Producers expressed concerns about the ability to fulfill contracts for milling wheat. This resulted in a large spread between milling and feed wheat: at the beginning of the season it was 20-25 USD/t,” said Mr. Kharchenko.
According to him, in September, it became clear that the share of milling wheat was 47%. Therefore, adjustments in the harvest of high-quality wheat and active exports of feed wheat at the beginning of the season led to a decrease in the spread.
