Exports of Ukrainian grain and oilseed seeds last year amounted to $122.6 mln

The volume of exports of hybrid seeds of national and foreign selection in 2024 amounted to 122.6 million USD. The volume of exports of hybrid seeds of national and foreign selection amounted to USD 122.6 million, exceeding the previous year’s figure of USD 119.5 million. The exports increased by 2.6%.

This was reported by the press service of the National Research Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”.

According to Oleksandr Zakharchuk, Head of the Investment and Logistics Department of the NSC, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, corn traditionally dominates the structure of Ukrainian exports of grain and oilseeds, accounting for 96.5% of the total.

At the same time, for the third consecutive year of war, exports of hybrid corn seeds have exceeded imports, the scientist noted.

Last year, the supply of hybrid corn seeds of domestic and foreign selection from Ukraine to the countries of the world reached a record level of 45.2 thousand tons, exceeding the result of 2023 by 6.4%, said Oleksandr Zakharchuk.

At the same time, he noted, the supply of seeds of this crop from abroad amounted to only 7.6 thou tons, which is almost 6.0 times less than the exported amount.

Thus, Ukraine’s accession to the International Seed Certification Schemes in 2011-2020 and the European Parliament’s recognition of the Ukrainian seed certification system as equivalent to the EU requirements in 2020 allowed Ukraine to increase the export of national and foreign seeds of grains and oilseeds produced in Ukraine for the fourth consecutive year, mainly to the EU countries, summarized Oleksandr Zakharchuk.
