Export of sunflower from Ukraine will reach 1.95 million tons – USDA report
According to analysts’ estimates, in 2022/23 MG Ukraine will export 3.60 million tons of sunflower oil, 2.75 million tons of sunflower meal and 1.95 million tons of sunflower seeds. This is evidenced by the data of the USDA report for November.
The EU is expected to continue importing large volumes of sunflower seeds due to the impact of the drought on its own oil crops.
“The persistence of instability in the region, the damage to the infrastructure and the fragility of the “grain agreement” remain points of uncertainty that will determine the volume and direction of exports that may leave the country,” the report says.

Analysts note that in the EU, access to inexpensive Ukrainian sunflower for processing led to the production of sunflower meal and oil, which accounted for a larger percentage of the total consumption of oilseed crops in 2021/22 MY.
The forecast for the world production of oilseeds for 2022/23 has been reduced by 1 million tons to 645 million tons, which is caused by a decrease in the harvest of soybeans in Argentina and sunflowers in Ukraine.
