The European Commission has launched a public consultation on a project to simplify, clarify, and modernize certain provisions of EU food and feed safety legislation.
The goal of the initiative is to increase the competitiveness of farmers and food and feed industry companies, and reduce the administrative burden on national authorities related to product marketing authorization procedures.
Key objectives include:
- accelerating access to the EU market for biocontrol substances and preparations;
- simplifying and clarifying regulatory requirements for pesticides, biocidal products, feed additives, food hygiene, and official inspections;
- implementing other measures to streamline EU food law.
