EU soft wheat exports rise 8% in MY 2025/26
The European Union exported 23.42 mln tons of soft wheat during the 2025/26 marketing year, which ended on June 30, up 8% from 21.62 mln tons in the previous season, according to data released by the European Commission.
EU barley exports also increased significantly, reaching 8.98 mln tons, compared with 5.21 mln tons in the 2024/25 marketing year. The figures highlight stronger demand for European barley on the global market.
Meanwhile, EU corn imports declined slightly. The bloc imported 18.47 mln tons of corn in 2025/26, down from 19.79 mln tons a year earlier.
The European Commission noted that its grain trade statistics remain incomplete. Export data for France has been incomplete since the beginning of 2024, while data for Bulgaria and Ireland has been incomplete since the start of the 2023/24 marketing year. Data for Greece has also been incomplete since January 2026.
Despite these reporting limitations, the season’s results indicate stronger export performance for the EU grain sector, particularly driven by higher shipments of soft wheat and barley.
