EU soft wheat exports more than halve at the start of the 2026/27 season
European Union soft wheat exports reached 0.70 mln tons by August 2 in the 2026/27 marketing season, down sharply from 1.79 mln tons during the same period a year earlier, according to data released by the European Commission.
EU barley exports also declined significantly to 0.31 mln tons, compared with 1.70 mln tons a year ago. Meanwhile, EU corn imports increased to 1.26 mln tons, up from 0.97 mln tons in the corresponding period of the previous season.
The European Commission noted that its grain export data remain incomplete due to missing information from France since the beginning of 2024, as well as from Bulgaria and Ireland since the 2023/24 marketing year and Greece since January 2026. As a result, actual export volumes may be higher than the published figures.
