EU increases oilseeds processing

The European Association of Vegetable Oil Producers (FEDIOL) estimates that in October 2023, the EU oil extraction plants processed more than 3 mln tonnes of oilseeds (+0.014 mln tonnes compared to the previous month). In general, since the beginning of the year (January-October), the figure increased to more than 32 mln tonnes, compared to 30.44 mln tonnes in the same period of 2022.
As for rapeseed, local enterprises processed 1.684 mln tons of the crop in October (+6% compared to September) and 15.926 mln tons in the first 10 months (+10% compared to January-October 2022).
At the same time, the volumes of soybean processing last month dropped by about 20%, to 771 thsd tonnes, compared to September. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 6% decline to 11.163 mln tons.
On the contrary, sunflower production is growing month on month. In October 2023, 589 thsd tonnes of seeds were delivered to the mills for further processing, which is 21% higher than a month earlier. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, the figures have increased by 20% to more than 4.9 mln tons.
