EU exported nearly 26 mln tons of grain

Since the start of the MY 2025/26 on July 1, European Union countries have exported 25.8 mln tons of grain and processed grain products, up 19% compared to the same period last season. According to the European Commission, soft wheat exports reached 15.4 mln tons, marking a 10% year-on-year increase. The main destinations included Morocco, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

Barley exports recorded the strongest growth, rising 79% year-on-year to 6.2 mln tons. In contrast, corn exports declined by 16% to about 1.05 mln tons. Durum wheat shipments nearly doubled to more than 0.64 mln tons, reflecting strong global demand for EU grain supplies.

North Africa and the Middle East remained key markets for EU soft wheat in the current season. Morocco imported more than 2.5 mln tons, Egypt purchased about 1.2 mln tons, and Saudi Arabia imported over 1 mln tons. Significant volumes of barley were also shipped to Saudi Arabia, China, Jordan, and Turkey.

At the same time, the European Commission noted that export data remain incomplete for several member states, including France, Bulgaria, Ireland, and Poland, which may affect final totals. Despite this, current trends confirm the EU’s strong position as one of the world’s leading grain exporters in the 2025/26 season.
