EU agriculture ministers in Luxembourg are considering expanding trade with Ukraine to support its economy. This was stated by the Danish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Water Affairs Jakob Jensen before the start of the EU Council meeting.

“We have already had talks with Ukraine on trade and will continue to discuss trade in general, but on behalf of the Danish Presidency of the EU Council we will try to focus on how to help Ukrainians increase their trade with the EU and thus support their economy,” Jensen said.

The meeting is also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka.

EU “Green Architecture”

In addition to the Ukrainian issue, the ministers are discussing the new EU “green architecture” – a system of incentives for farmers to comply with climate requirements, as well as the “generational renewal” initiative aimed at attracting young people to the agricultural sector.

Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
