Wheat production in Egypt is expected to reach 9.8 million tons in the 2026/27 season, up 6.5% compared to the previous year, according to the USDA. The growth is attributed to the expansion of cultivated areas to approximately 3.6 million feddans and higher procurement prices aimed at encouraging farmers.

The Egyptian Cabinet’s media center reported that the government is working to boost yields by promoting high-yield seed varieties, improving agricultural extension services, and distributing certified seeds to farmers.

Additionally, authorities are implementing demonstration fields and raised-bed farming systems to provide fertilizers and mechanical support, while also developing silos and storage facilities to improve post-harvest management.

Thanks to these measures, wheat imports are expected to decrease to 12.5 million tons, reflecting the success of the state’s strategy to increase domestic production and reduce dependence on foreign supplies.

Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv.
