Egypt: wheat reserve enough for four months
Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali el Moselhi said Tuesday that Egypt’s strategic reserve of wheat is sufficient for 4 months.
In a statement, Moselhi added that the strategic reserves of sugar, edible oil and rice are enough for 3.9, 4.8 and 9.2 months, respectively.
According to him, the strategic stock of Sudanese meat and poultry is enough for 24.4 and 11.4 months, respectively.
Ever since the start of the coronavirus outbreak, the ministry has been keen on securing large quantities of staple food stocks sufficient for 4-6 months, based on monthly rates of consumption, while bracing for any emergencies that might arise due to increased consumption during the holy month of Ramadan, Moselhi pointed out.
