Egypt signs direct contracts for grain supplies from Europe

The state procurement agency Mostakbal Misr has signed several wheat supply agreements with European producers. Some of the deals are barter. They are intended to diversify food imports.
The agency, which was transferred the powers of GASC at the end of last year, did not disclose data on the origin of grain, prices and volumes in a statement about the new agreements.
At the end of December, Mostakbal Misr announced the conclusion of direct contracts for the supply of 1.267 mln tons, most of which is wheat of Russian origin. The Union of Grain Exporters and Producers of the Russian Federation did not confirm the announced volume, as accredited Russian exporters did not participate in the deal.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
