Egypt set to harvest record wheat crop thanks to favorable winter conditions

Egypt could achieve its highest wheat harvest on record this season as winter weather conditions have been highly favorable for crop development, according to the country’s Climate Information Center. Officials say the current climatic pattern provides optimal conditions across all key stages of wheat growth.

Mohamed Ali Fahim, head of the Climate Information Center at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, said this winter offers exceptional potential for wheat farmers, provided they adhere strictly to agronomic recommendations issued by the authorities. He stressed that proper farm management will be critical to realizing the crop’s full yield potential.

The optimistic outlook is based on detailed climate assessments showing adequate chilling periods necessary for proper tillering and heading. These conditions support better grain filling, higher thousand-kernel weight, and ultimately increased yields per square meter.

The Ministry of Agriculture has urged farmers to closely follow weather forecasts and agricultural extension guidance throughout the growing season to fully benefit from the favorable conditions and to reduce any risks that could arise before harvest.
