Despite the war, Ukraine retains global leadership in sunflower oil exports
Last year, in 2022, Ukraine ranked first in the world in exports of non-GMO products and retained its global leadership in sunflower oil supplies.
Kernel CEO Yevhen Osipov said this during a live Bloomberg broadcast dedicated to the anniversary of the war, the company reports on its Facebook page.
“During the year of full-scale war, the enemy did not break our defense, did not stop exports, and did not cause global hunger. Our defenders have won precious time for farmers to adapt and set up new logistics routes. The main result: Ukraine has survived, remaining a reliable and largest exporter of sunflower oil in the world. Therefore, it is crucial that the Grain Initiative continues to work and that its efficiency is improved,” says Yevhen Osypov.
He noted that Ukraine remains a reliable exporter of food to the poorest countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
