The delegations of Ukraine and Russia arrived in Istanbul to sign the “grain agreement”. The document will be signed in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. It informs BBC.
Thus, the Ukrainian delegation is headed by the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.
As part of the visit, the Ukrainian side held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization Antonio Guterres, the report says press service of the department.
“The focus of the dialogue is the UN initiative to unblock sea ports for the export of food and guarantee the safety of ships. The Secretary General once again expressed his support for the unblocking of Ukrainian ports and assured that security is an indisputable priority of the UN. The organization will do its best to ensure that this principle is observed by all participants in the negotiations.” , – the Ministry of Infrastructure specifies.
According to TASS, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, arrived in Istanbul to sign the agreement.
Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the OP chairman, disclosed the details of the agreement:
- Ukraine does not sign any documents with Russia. We sign an agreement with Turkey and the UN and undertake obligations to them. Russia signs a mirror agreement with Turkey and the UN.
- No escorting of transport by Russian ships and no presence of representatives in our ports. In case of provocations – an immediate military response.
- All inspections of transport ships will be carried out by joint teams in the waters if the need arises.
