Corn will be grown in Mongolia
Corn seed trials are beginning in Bulgan aimag, Mongolia, in the northwest of the country. This agreement was reached between the aimag’s Department of Food and Agriculture and the Chinese company Yellow Beans. A Memorandum of Cooperation was recently signed to expand public-private partnerships.
Under the memorandum, the parties agreed to cooperate on developing corn cultivation in Bulgan aimag, as well as to gradually implement the selection and testing of 32 seed varieties with the goal of adapting and introducing them to local conditions. This work will include the implementation of necessary investment and technological solutions, including seed support, irrigation systems, and soluble soil coatings, as well as the provision of professional and methodological consultations and support. The parties believe this cooperation is crucial for introducing new crop varieties into the agricultural sector of Bulgan aimag, increasing production productivity, implementing advanced technologies, and increasing farmers’ incomes.
