Corn harvest up in Kyrgyzstan, wheat and barley yields decline
According to the National Statistics Committee, most grain crops in Kyrgyzstan were harvested in the 2025 season, but the total gross yield fell below last year’s level. Average grain productivity also decreased.
Growth was observed in corn for grain, rice, vegetables, fruit and berry crops, and melons. At the same time, yields of wheat, barley, sugar beet, tobacco, cotton, oilseeds, pulses, and potatoes declined.
Analysts note that the drop in yields of some key crops was influenced by weather conditions and other factors affecting the agricultural sector. Nonetheless, positive trends in corn, vegetables, and fruit and berry crops indicate that the country’s potential for food security remains intact.
The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that yield data will be taken into account when planning sowing campaigns and supporting farmers in 2026.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
