Corn and soybean planting is proceeding at a rapid pace in the US
Corn and soybean planting rates in the US are well ahead of average, according to Zerno On-line, citing the US Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
By April 26, US farmers had planted 25% of their planned corn acreage (19% on average over the past five years), and 23% of their planned soybean acreage (12%). Spring wheat planting rates are lagging behind average. By April 26, 19% of the planned acreage had been planted (22%).
Winter wheat crop conditions remain stable. The share of wheat crops in excellent and good condition is currently only 30%, the same as last week. Last year, 49% of the crops were in excellent and good condition, while the five-year average was 40%.
