Conab Increased Brazil’s Corn Production 1.9 mt to 131.8 Million
In their September Crop Report, Conab increased Brazil’s 2022/23 corn production by 1.9 million tons to 131.86 million. Brazil’s 2022/23 soybean production was left unchanged at 154.6 million tons.
Brazil’s first corn crop is estimated at 27.3 million tons, which is unchanged from last month.
The safrinha corn production increased 1.98 million tons from last month to 102.16 million. Safrinha corn acreage was increased 70,000 hectares from last month to 17.17 million (42.4 million acres). Safrinha corn yields are now estimated at 5,947 kg/ha (94.5 bu/ac), which is up 1.4 bu/ac from the prior month.
Brazil’s third corn crop is estimated at 2.32 million tons, which is down 0.08 million from last month.
Brazil’s first corn crop now represents 20.7% of Brazil’s total 2022/23 corn production. The safrinha crop represents 77.4% of the total and the third crop represents 1.7% of the total.
