China retaining its top position among importers of Ukrainian barley
This season’s barley exports already total 4.07 MMT (-5% y-o-y), UkrAgroConsult reports. Almost 131 KMT was exported in March (+116% from February and -58% from March 2019/20).
China still makes the biggest monthly purchases of Ukrainian barley compared to other importers; its export share in the first nine months of the season equaled 69%.
Most importers reduced barley purchases from Ukraine compared to last season: Saudi Arabia, Israel, Algeria, Jordan, the EU and Qatar.
Among major buyers, the following ones show stronger demand than a year ago: China and Libya (up threefold), Lebanon (an eightfold increase) and Tunisia (+3%).
