China reduced demand for Ukrainian sunflower meal ahead of Lunar New Year celebrations
With the start of the Lunar New Year holidays (February 17), China is slowing down the import of meal, which Ukrainian exporters of sunflower meal have already felt.
Atria Brokers experts note that the reduction in demand on the eve of the holidays is an atypical picture. In the near future, meal prices in Ukraine will remain under pressure from low demand, although meal prices in China are quite stable.
The recent drop in soybean meal prices in Dalian has increased pressure on sunflower meal prices, which remain at $280/t CIF China.
Demand for containerized non-pelleted meal has been declining for about two weeks as China prepares for the holidays.
Let us recall that 62% of sunflower meal exported from Ukraine in the 2025/26 MY was purchased by China.
