China increases imports of wheat and barley

Last month, the import of corn to China decreased to 1.2 mln tonnes, which is 33% lower than in August 2022, Reuters reported, citing the data of the General Administration of Customs of China.
At the same time, the purchases of other grains increased in the reporting period: wheat – by 58%, to 840 thsd tonnes; barley – by 54%, to 380 thsd tonnes.
The total volume of corn imports to China in the first eight months of 2023 amounted to 14.9 mln tonnes (-12% compared to January-August of the previous year), wheat – 9.6 mln tonnes (+53%), barley – 6.2 mln tonnes (+53%).
