China imported the principal volume of Ukrainian flour in Q1 2019
In Q1 2019 (January 1, 2019 to March 31, 2019), Ukrainian companies exported 84.2 thou. tons of wheat flour, 23 per cent or 25.4 thou. tons less from the corresponding period of 2018 (109.6 thou. tons), the Ukrainian Food Export Board (UFEB) informs.
The main importers of flour from Ukraine in the reporting period are as follows:
China — 15.6 per cent of the total exports;
the U.A.E. — 14.4 per cent;
Singapore — 12.2 per cent.
According to the report, in January-February 2019, the total volume of production decreased by 12.4 pct (38 thou. tons) from the previous year's comparative period.
“A 10 per cent decrease in the domestic supply of flour last year (1.7 million tons in 2018 vs. 1.9 million tons in 2017) affected the export figure, which consequently decreased by 31 pct in 2018 as compared with 2017 (305.4 thou. tons vs. 442.6 thou. tons,” UFEB analytical department noted.
In 2018, the Ukrainian companies exported 307 thou. tons of flour worth USD 72.1 million, 31 per cent less from 2017 (444 thou. tons).
