China expects rapeseed imports to increase in Q4
China expects an increase in rapeseed imports in the fourth quarter of 2026, which could put additional pressure on domestic rapeseed oil prices. According to analytical agency SunSirs, the market is currently supported by low inventories and limited imports. However, the expected arrival of new rapeseed shipments could improve raw material availability for crushers and limit further increases in oil prices.
Rapeseed oil prices in China remained relatively stable in late September. Between September 24 and 29, the average price declined by 0.19%, from RMB 10,664/t to RMB 10,644/t. However, prices rebounded on September 30 amid tight nearby supplies and increased market activity. Additional support comes from pre-holiday purchases and prospects for greater use of rapeseed oil in biodiesel production.
According to SunSirs, the rapeseed oil market is expected to remain volatile in the short term. Low inventories will support prices for nearby deliveries, while the anticipated increase in rapeseed imports in Q4 will limit upside potential in the coming months. Overall, analysts expect prices to fluctuate within a relatively narrow range without a sustained upward trend.
