China expects a strong grain harvest in 2026, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The ministry said current seasonal results provide a solid foundation for stable domestic grain supplies.
Summer grain production exceeded 150 mln tons for the first time this year. At the same time, early rice output remained above 28 mln tons for the sixth consecutive year.
Autumn crops, which account for the bulk of China’s annual grain production, are now being harvested. According to the ministry, the planted area under these crops has expanded.
The area under high-yielding crops, particularly corn, increased notably. This is expected to support overall grain production and strengthen domestic feed grain supplies.
China’s agriculture ministry said that despite increased volatility in global grain markets, the country has a solid production base to maintain stable food and grain supplies.
