Cargill launches new canola processing plant in Canada
Cargill’s canola processing plant in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, has begun operations.
According to the company’s press service, the 1 million tonne per year canola processing capacity will help meet local demand and allow it to process more of its crop domestically.
The facility will produce edible oil and renewable fuels, as well as high-protein meal for animal feed. The plant will serve producers throughout Saskatchewan and western Manitoba.
“By expanding our processing capacity in Saskatchewan, we are creating more opportunities for farmers while helping to keep Canada competitive in rapidly changing global markets,” said Jeff Wassart, president of Cargill Canada.
The company already has canola processing plants in Camrose, Alberta, and Clavet, Saskatchewan.
For reference: Cargill Inc. is the world’s largest private company investing in food production. It operates in 68 countries around the world, sells grain, edible oil, sugar and other products. It is also the largest producer of agricultural products.
