Cargill expands poultry production in Thailand amid export growth

Cargill is investing 2 bln baht, or about $60 mln, to expand poultry production and processing in Thailand. The key element of the project will be a new automated line for cooked chicken products at the company’s Saraburi facility, scheduled to start operations in 2028.

Following the expansion, production of cooked poultry products is expected to rise to around 160 thsd tons. The company expects the new capacity to generate an additional 25 bln baht, or about $750 mln, in export revenue and create around 300 jobs.

Cargill exports cooked poultry products made in Thailand to foodservice and retail customers in other Asian markets, including Japan, as well as to Europe and North America. The expansion comes amid growing global demand for high-quality protein.

Separately, the company is building a 30 thsd ton grain silo in northeastern Thailand for raw materials used in poultry feed production. The project is due to be completed in December and is expected to improve flexibility in grain procurement throughout the year.

Cargill also plans to direct part of the investment toward automation and artificial intelligence to optimize production processes and costs. The company expects the expansion in Thailand to increase export-oriented output and strengthen its position in international markets.
