Canada sharply increases corn exports as soybean shipments decline
Canada has sharply increased corn exports since the start of the MY 2026/27, while soybean shipments have declined significantly. According to the Canadian Grain Commission, corn exports since the beginning of the season have reached 68 thsd tons.
This is 5.9 times higher than in the same period last season, when the country exported 11.6 thsd tons of corn. In the week ending September 20, shipments totaled 8.8 thsd tons, compared with no exports a week earlier.
At the same time, Canadian soybean exports since the start of the season fell by 79.6% to 17.7 thsd tons, compared with 86.6 thsd tons a year earlier. No soybean shipments were recorded in the latest reporting week.
Corn deliveries from producers since the start of the season increased by 8.1% to 92.9 thsd tons, compared with 85.9 thsd tons last year.
Soybeans showed the opposite trend, with producer deliveries down 70.3% to 10 thsd tons from 33.7 thsd tons in the same period last season.
