Canada has significantly increased barley exports since the start of the MY 2026/27. As of September 6, shipments reached 176.6 thsd tons, 2.9 times higher than in the same period last season, when exports totaled 61.8 thsd tons.

Barley deliveries from Canadian producers have also remained above last year’s level since the start of the season. They reached 554.6 thsd tons, up 4.3% y/y.

The trend in oats is the opposite. Oat exports since the start of the MY 2026/27 fell by 20.5% to 92.6 thsd tons, compared with 116.5 thsd tons a year earlier. Weekly shipments declined by 26% to 21.3 thsd tons.

Producer deliveries of oats also fell by 26.8% to 243.8 thsd tons. Overall, Canadian barley is showing much stronger export momentum than oats at the start of the new season.
