Canada increases rapeseed and rapeseed meal exports in June

Canada exported 759 thsd tons of rapeseed in June 2026, up from 651 thsd tons a year earlier. China was the largest buyer, increasing its purchases to 332 thsd tons from 128 thsd tons in June 2025, according to Oil World.

Significant volumes of Canadian rapeseed were also shipped to Japan at 105 thsd tons, Mexico at 99 thsd tons, the EU at 78 thsd tons and Bangladesh at 64 thsd tons. Meanwhile, exports to the UAE fell sharply to 19 thsd tons from 129 thsd tons a year earlier amid instability in the Strait of Hormuz.

Since the beginning of the 2025/26 season, Canada has exported 7.92 mln tons of rapeseed, down from 8.97 mln tons in the same period last season. Shipments to China more than halved from 4.43 mln to 2.09 mln tons, while exports to the EU increased from 1.23 mln to 1.67 mln tons. Japan imported 1.48 mln tons, compared with 1.62 mln tons a year earlier.

Rapeseed meal exports increased to 535 thsd tons in June from 459 thsd tons a year earlier. Almost the entire volume was shipped to just two markets: the US purchased 336 thsd tons and China 198 thsd tons. Since the beginning of the season, Canada has exported 5.72 mln tons of rapeseed meal, up from 5.43 mln tons a year earlier, with shipments to the US rising to 4.23 mln tons.

Meanwhile, rapeseed oil exports fell to 235 thsd tons in June despite record rapeseed crushing volumes in Canada, marking the lowest monthly level in 11 months. The US remained the main buyer, importing 221 thsd tons. Since the beginning of the season, Canada has exported 3.13 mln tons of rapeseed oil, virtually unchanged from 3.12 mln tons a year earlier.
