Burkina Faso decides to resume wheat cultivation
Burkina Faso authorities have resumed a program to promote wheat cultivation, Sidwaya news agency reported on May 14.
Previous attempts made by the previous authorities of the country were not successful.
Under the 2023-2024 campaign, the experimental phase of wheat cultivation is taking place in 5 regions: Upper Basins, Cascades, Boucle du Mouhoun, Center-East and Center-North.
Currently, about fifty producers are involved in wheat production in this African country. According to experienced agrarians, wheat production in Burkina Faso can indeed be successful if sown on good land, properly irrigated and fertilized.
