Bunge sells part of its grain silos in Western Canada
Local Canadian companies have acquired five grain silos from Bunge Global SA as part of the company’s commitments under its merger with Viterra, which was completed in July 2025.
According to a statement released on November 7, Direct Grain Ltd. purchased the silo in Dixon, Saskatchewan; Linear Grain Inc. acquired the facility in Fannystelle, Manitoba; and BP & Sons Grain and Storage Inc. bought the silos located in Beausejour, Tucker, and Coulter, Manitoba.
These transactions are part of the divestment obligations Bunge undertook with the Canadian government to obtain antitrust approval for the merger with Viterra. The financial details of the deals were not disclosed.
Additionally, the company announced a preliminary agreement to sell a sixth silo in Valparaiso, Saskatchewan, with the transaction expected to close following approval from the Canadian Minister of Transport.
Since the merger’s completion on July 2, these assets have been managed by an independent Hold Separate Manager and overseen by a third party approved by the government until the sales process is finalized.
Separately from its merger commitments, Bunge also sold a silo in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan, to F.W. Cobs. Earlier, the company completed the acquisition of assets from North West Terminal Ltd. (NWT) near Unity, Saskatchewan.
Following its merger with Viterra, Bunge, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, now operates more than 300 grain storage facilities, 40 port terminals, and 155 processing and packaging plants in over 50 countries worldwide.
