Bunge almost doubled its profit in the second quarter
Global agribusiness company Bunge significantly improved its financial results in the second quarter of 2026, supported by strong performance in soybean and softseed processing and refining. The company’s net income rose to $678 mln from $354 mln in the same period last year, while net sales increased to $24.04 bln from $12.77 bln.
Soybean Processing and Refining was one of the main growth drivers. Adjusted segment EBIT increased to $445 mln from $304 mln, while net sales rose to $12.07 bln from $7.75 bln. Soybean processing volumes increased from 9.3 mln tons to 11.52 mln tons, mainly due to stronger performance across the North and South American value chains.
Bunge recorded even stronger growth in its Softseed Processing and Refining segment. Adjusted segment EBIT jumped to $255 mln from $14 mln, while net sales increased to $4.1 bln from $1.53 bln. Softseed processing volumes rose by nearly 80%, from 1.95 mln tons to 3.49 mln tons.
Bunge attributed the stronger performance to expanded production capacity in Argentina, Canada and Europe, as well as a broader global softseed origination network. The company said its merger with Viterra in July 2025 provided a more balanced global softseed footprint and strengthened its position in international markets.
Bunge continues to invest in expanding its infrastructure and processing capacity. The company expects a new barge unloader and a new multi-seed processing plant to become operational by the end of 2026. Bunge expects its expanded global platform to help it navigate shifting trade flows and geopolitical uncertainty more effectively.
