Bulgaria made the EU the biggest importer of Russian sunseed

Sunflower seed exports in September-November 2020/21 hit a record high of 421.1 KMT vs. 198.1 KMT a year earlier.
The surge in exports amid a production decrease, as well as high domestic prices caused the Russian government to raise the export tariff for sunseed shipments outside the EAEU to 30% (from January till the season end). Under such conditions, 2020/21 export potential is estimated at 650 KMT, UkrAgroConsult reports.
The top importer this season is the EU due to boosted deliveries to Bulgaria.
Growth in exports was registered also to the following markets: Turkey and Romania.
A slowdown in exports was fixed to Kazakhstan and Belarus.
