Brazil’s soybean harvest is 69% complete

By March 21, Brazilian farmers have completed the harvest of soybeans on the area of 69% of the plan, according to data from the consulting company AgRural. During the week, field work in the country advanced by 6%, but the pace of harvesting campaign is 1% behind the level of the same date last year.
According to experts, threshing is now actively progressing in the Matopiba region and in the southernmost state of Brazil – Rio Grande do Sul.
In addition, AgRural reports that in the central and southern part of the country, sowing of second-crop corn has been completed, although a year earlier work in these regions was still ongoing.
“Warm weather and irregular rains are causing concern for producers in the state of Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul. Despite the decrease in temperature in recent days, rainfall is still scarce in both states,” the company added.
USDA forecasts that Brazil will harvest 155 million tons of soybeans (162 million tons in MY 2022/23) and 124 million tons of corn (137 million tons) this season.
