According to the latest forecast from the National Supply Company (Conab), Brazil will increase grain production in the MY 2025/26 by 4.1 million tons compared to the previous year to a record 356.3 million tons, which is 2.9 million tons higher than the March estimate. At the same time, the sown area will increase by 2% to 83.3 million hectares.

Reduced rainfall in March has accelerated soybean harvest, which is now 85.7% harvested. The soybean crop is expected to reach a record 179.2 million tonnes, as average yields this season reached a record high of 3,696 tonnes/ha, although some states were lower than last year.

Corn production, the second most widely grown crop in the country, will decrease by 1.1% year-on-year to 139.6 million tons. The area sown with the first crop increased to 4.1 million hectares and production increased by 28 million tons, but the volume of the second crop will decrease by 3.6% to 109.1 million tons.

Rice production will also decrease by 13% to 11.1 million tons due to a 13% reduction in sowing areas amid unfavorable weather conditions for this crop.

Recall that, amid increased soybean production and processing in Brazil, exports of soybean meal from the country to the EU amounted to over 50%.
