Brazil Opens 100 Markets for Agricultural Exports in 15 Months

Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Favaro, announced last week that over the past 15 months since January of 2023, Brazil has opened 100 new markets in 49 countries for its agricultural products. The latest two were announced last Tuesday, March 19th, when the Minister confirmed the export of goat and sheep products to Egypt.

Minister Favro indicated that the opening of new markets confirms the success of sanitary controls in the Brazilian meat processing industry and he expects more openings in the months ahead.

Of the 100 new markets, 36 are in Asia (Saudia Aribia, Armenia, Bhutan, China, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam): 35 are in the Americas (Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, United States, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay); 17 are in Africa (South Africa, Angola, Algeria, Botswana, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, and Zambia); 7 in Oceania (Australia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, and Vanuatu); and 5 in Europe (Belarus, United Kingdom, Russia, and Turkey).

Brazilian agricultural exports are very diverse such as cotton to Egypt; beef and pork to Mexico and Singapore; acai juice to India, poultry to Israel and Algeria, papaya to Chile, rice to Kenya, fish to Australia, Egypt, and South Africa, eggs to Russia, and coffee to Zambia.
