Brazil: Chicken meat exports show good performance in october
Brazilian chicken meat shipments continue to recover after the Newcastle outbreak in Rio Grande do Sul. The fact is that Brazil treated the problem with the seriousness it deserved and managed to eliminate any problems in its production chain in a short time.
Regardless of this kind of detail, Brazil is still by far the best global alternative for the chicken meat supply. The northern hemisphere still has serious incidents caused by Avian Influenza. Added to this are issues involving costs, keeping the margins of European and US chicken farming under pressure.
The growth of Brazilian exports is directly linked to the increase in shipments to the Asian market. It is a well-known fact that Brazil has an excellent supply capacity for the Middle East, and Japan and China are also our captive customers. Brazil’s target for chicken meat is to expand the markets in which the country already has a large share.
The list of the main importers of chicken meat leaves no doubt: sales are very well distributed, with Brazil selling quality chicken to more than one hundred countries. The improved distribution of sales has been replicated by other proteins that are trying to reduce their dependence on some key markets, especially when it comes to beef.
In any case, from January to October, the country already shipped around 4.28 mln tons of chicken meat, up 1.7% from the same period last year, when around 4.2 mln tons were exported. It is important to point out that this is a market in which Brazil has been a leader for several years, and maintaining a growing pace of shipments, even at vegetative rates, is something to be celebrated.
It is worth noting that the highly devalued exchange rate increases the appeal to exports, making the Brazilian product more competitive, together with the improvement in the conversion rates from the dollar to the real. In this environment, it seems clear that Brazilian agribusiness will prioritize exports in the coming few months. This is the natural path for a sector that has grown in competitiveness over the course of the decade.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv.
